Partners in Digi-Lingo

Digi-Lingo is a consortium project consisting of five different partners from across Europe. We are represented by four regional authorities and one transnational with connections to the European Union:

  • Central Denmark Region
  • Vestland Fylkeskommune
  • Kristau Eskola
  • Het Gemeenschapsonderwijs (GO!)
  • European Schoolnet.

Our partnership is beneficial in both securing a broad perspective on our project development, and a culturally diverse workforce with unique collaborative potentials and skills.

Central Denmark Region

Central Denmark Region (CDR) is located in Viborg and is the regional administrative political center for the central region of Denmark. CDR administrates many different projects, and therefore also takes the role of project managers for Digi-Lingo. CDR is primarily responsible for the administrative, managerial, and organizational tasks of the project, such as the general executive tasks, coordination of partner meetings, project management and press.

CDR is also the primary economic administrator of the project, and therefore answers to the relevant stakeholders in regard to economic affairs, budgets etc.

Tradium

Tradium, situated in the municipality of Randers, is one of the largest combined technical and business colleges in Denmark, with apx. 500 full time employees and approximately 3,000 full time students yearly. Tradium primarily offers general upper secondary and vocational education.

Tradium offers the higher commercial examination programme (HHX) as a part of the general upper secondary education. HHX aims to provide a qualification for academic studies realized within the areas of business economics and socioeconomics combined with foreign languages and other general subjects. The education programme aims to develop the students’ capacity for in-depth studies and their understanding of theoretical knowledge as tools for analyzing realistic issues.

Paderup Gymnasium

Paderup Gymnasium is an upper secondary school located in the southern part of the city of Randers in the Central Denmark Region. The school has approximately 500 students and 60 teachers. The overarching values of Paderup Gymnasium are academic work processes and creativity in a safe and secure learning environment. At Paderup Gymnasium we believe in the unique talent and creative potential of the students, and we strive to unlock the academic potential of every single one of them.

Horsens Gymnasium & HF

Horsens Gymnasium & HF is a large high school with approximately 1,300 students and 140 staff members. We offer two educational programs: STX, which is a 3-year upper secondary education, and HF, which is a 2-year upper secondary education. The student group is diverse and aged between 16 and 19 years old.

The school's motto is "Expanding Your World," which we strive to embody in our daily teaching. Our values include the development of students' personalities and academic skills, and we aim to provide students with insight and perspective. This is why we organize numerous excursions and study trips, mostly to European countries. We also collaborate with various educational institutions and participate in international activities, often through ERASMUS+ programs.

In recent years, the school has been involved in several development projects, supported by organizations like Region Midtjylland. Currently, we are engaged in a project exploring the many possibilities of chatbots and Digi-Lingo.

Bjerringbro Gymnasium

Bjerringbro Gymnasium is a small gymnasium situated in Bjerringbro, which is a town near Viborg and Silkeborg. Bjerringbro Gymnasium has eleven different study programmes that are arranged in three different subjects of study: Science, business and language. The gymnasium also provides the possibility to study Higher Preparatory Examination Courses. The gymnasium has a well developed cooperation with local companies which gives the students the possibility to get well prepared for choosing a career after having finished their education.

Vestland Fylkeskommune

Vestland Fylkeskommune is a regional authority located in Bergen Norway with many areas of responsibilities. Their involvement in Digi-Lingo can be seen as further development and continuation of their local work regarding distance language learning education and teaching. Vestland Fylkekommune is therefore also considered to be most knowledgeable within the didactic and pedagocical aspects of the development of Digi-Lingo.

Considering Vestland Fylkekommunes experience with the implementation of similar projects, they are also responsible for the more specific implementation and formulation of Digi-Lingo's exact potentials and uses in the actual classroom.

Førde Upper Secondary School

Førde Upper Secondary School is located in Førde, in Sunnfjord municipality. The school has high ambitions for learning and development, and they want to facilitate a safe and good learning environment where the pupils can develop both professionally and socially. Førde Upper Secondary School wants to be a future-oriented school that allows pupils to test different digital trends, and arrange for the pupils to develop good digital competence in a safe way with a focus on digital judgment. The latest thing they are working on is testing how to use VR (Virtual Reality) in the classroom.

Amalie Skram vidaregåande skule

Amalie Skram Upper Secondary School is located in the city centre of Bergen. The school has approximately 1000 pupils and 130 staff. The school has a number of activities which aims at creating a safe, good and inclusive environment for the pupils. Internationalisation is also important at Amalie Skram Upper Secondary School and they have cooperation and exchange with schools in Italy, Spain, France, Japan, China, Austria and Germany.

Nordahl Grieg vidaregåande skule

Nordahl Grieg Upper Secondary School is located in Ytrebygda, Bergen. The school was completed in 2010, and has 970 pupils and around 160 staff. The school aims to create an environment for growth, knowledge, creativity and innovation, and a socio-cultural view of learning is promoted through he architectural design. The school is also a hub-school with an offer of tailored education for hearing-impaired pupils with various needs. The school vision is “Bold minds in collaboration”. Nordahl Grieg Upper Secondary School aims to be a leading school in the use of digital learning technology.

Kristau Eskola

Kristau Eskola is an association composed of 128 schools scattered across the Basque Country and is located in San Sebastián. With their great organizational network Kristau Eskola will mostly be focused on the implementation work and outreach to potential partner school. In this partnership they will also be responsible for feedback and modification of specific initiatives in line with the more broad work of Digi-Lingo.

Kristau Eskola will furthermore be responsible for the formulation of key competencies and overall teaching and/or learning goals of the project, as they have great experience with innovative competence-based education in regards to external projects.

Partner schools

San Antonio Ikastetxea

Our school is a cooperative school, Christian and multilingual situated in the heart of the Basque country very involved in our town. Our students are from 0 to 16 years old and we have a lot of diversity in the classrooms. We offer a well-rounded education with a special focus on their plurilingual competence.For this reason, there are five languages that are taught and used at school: Basque, Spanish, English, French, German. The school has undergone a significant digitalization since 2019 and has attained the highest certification awarded by the Basque Department of Education. All of our students work with their own device.

Promoting the European dimension has also been one of our priorities, which has been key to the promotion of plurilingualism, but also the development of an European and global citizenship.

In order to achieve the mentioned values, we carry out international pupils exchanges, and have also participated in Erasmus+ KA1 projects. Additionally, we have been active on Etwinning since 2017 and one of our project was awarded the Quality Label in 2021.

Nuestra Señora de Begoña – Salesianas

Nuestra Señora de Begoña-Salesianas Barakaldo is a school located in Barakaldo, a town close to Bilbao in the Basque country. We belong to a vast network of Salesian Schools spanning the globe and originally founded by St. John Bosco for the education of young people.

We are a school of over three hundred students and a staff of over thirty members. We teach Early Childhood, Primary Education and Secondary Education with specific attention to students with specific needs of Educational Support. Since the 2003/04 school year, we have also introduced a Complementary Schooling Programme that welcomes school dropouts from the area.

Our school provides an ambitious learning atmosphere in a caring, secure, supportive environment. We offer a wide curriculum of academic, practical and pastoral subjects. In the last years we have taken significant steps towards the digitalisation of the school and from the 2022-23 academic year on, each student will have their own computer. Foreign languages, English and French, are worked through a digital platform.

Herrikide

We are a Basque faith school located in Tolosa. Herrikide works for our students to be socially engaged, creative and autonomous citizens as the goal is the students’ well-being and happiness. The school provides general secondary education and bachillerato (tertiary education) in Science or Social Science. Our teaching approach includes these pillars:

  • Our community is part of a bilingual society and brings special attention to languages and language attitudes. Education in Herrikide is mainly in Basque, the local minority language.
  • The school has a strong sense of community and actively participates in Service-Learning initiatives.
  • In the last years there have been important pedagogical innovations. We are proud of developing and implementing our own interdisciplinary project-based program in the first two years of Secondary Education.

Currently, Herrikide also aims at opening more to Europe and is looking forward to collaborating with other international schools.

In 2022 we obtained the Erasmus + Accreditation.

Claret Askartza Ikastetxea

Claret Askartza Ikastetxea is a school part of the association Kristau Eskola, located in Leioa, Bizkaia, in the Basque Country.

Our youngest students are 1 year old and the oldest are 18. The latter, for the most part, enter university at the end of their studies at school.

We are a bilingual educational community in Basque and Spanish. English is introduced into the school curriculum from pre-school on, in the 1-year-old class, especially aiming at the practice of the sounds of the foreign language, phonics. Progressively, throughout the Primary Education stage, subjects whose vehicular language is English are introduced. Finally, in Secondary Education, students can study a second foreign language, French or German.

The priorities of the school are:

  • Providing quality education for all students. Encouraging the development of all its competencies, including digital competence.
  • Development of a values of accountability and active citizenship. Commitment to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development.
  • Respect and care for their own language and culture, as well as knowledge and admiration for other languages ​​and cultures.
  • Fostering healthy interpersonal relationships and the prevention of bullying.

Het Gemeenschapsonderwijs (GO!)

GO! headquarters is located in Brussels in Belgium but the educational network organizes official education in the whole Dutch speaking part of Belgium (Flanders) and offers teacher training to all its GO!-schools. GO! is therefore also very connected with the specific implementation work of Digi-Lingo, as they have a lot of experience in working within a mixed field of different cultures and foreign languages. GO! is responsible for ca. 210.000 pupils and 27.000 staff members. With their large experience in innovative digital didactic fields, GO! will to a considerable extent be responsible for the partnership and the network consisting of all teachers and schools connected to the Digi-Lingo project.

Partner schools

Da Vinci scholen Sint-Niklaas

We are a secondary GO! school in the beautiful town of Sint-Niklaas with 3 different departments, each with their own unique approach and content:

  • Forum Da Vinci, also called "the Forum", is our largest campus. Here we offer traditional education in many different fields of study. Hair care, sales, publicity, art, Latin, commerce, IT? Take your pick!
  • At Villa Da Vinci, or "the Villa", various subjects in general secondary education are offered within the Freinet pedagogy. In traditional education, the emphasis is usually on the subject matter and the teacher whereas in Freinet education, the emphasis is more on the pupils and their responsibility.
  • Our youngest department is “Casa Da Vinci”, which is a vocational secondary Freinet school for the 1st and 2nd years, a one of a kind.

Although these 3 schools are not physically connected, in reality they are. We can speak of a very nice, natural Da Vinci cross-fertilisation. Teachers teach on the different campuses, pupils get to know each other at joint activities and some modules are even offered jointly. And when in Sint-Niklaas you will be amazed by our market place which is the biggest in Belgium.

Athena Oostende Campus Pegasus en Centrum

We are a secondary GO! school in Ostend, the queen of the seaside resorts, with 3 different departments, each with their own unique approach and content:

  • Campus Pegasus, our “Junior High School”, concentrates on the first four years of secondary education (general education). The first year pays a lot of attention to the transition from primary school and pupils can already get a taste of several fields of education.
  • Campus Centrum, our “Senior High School”, cooperates with colleges and universities and so allows third grade pupils to make a carefully considered choice of study in higher education.
  • Campus Olympus caters to pupils with sporting talents. The cooperation with various sports clubs and sports federations offers them the chance to combine study with top-level sport from the 1st till the 6th year.

The entire education team works enthusiastically every day to further expand Athena. This intensive cooperation between the three campuses, combined with external partners, allows the resources to be used as efficiently as possible, thus raising the quality of education even higher. Atheneum Zelzate

Our school is located in the municipality of Zelzate, known for its industry and hard workers. We are located on a campus with a primary school, a middle school and an athenaeum. In addition to providing our pupils excellent knowledge and learning content in accordance with the curriculum objectives, we also teach them cross-curricular learning outcomes such as knowing how to interact and cooperate with others. We further invest heavily in GO!’s core values such as social engagement, responsible use of space, world solidarity, independence, tolerance and broad interest in cultural events. Last but not least, we also think hard about children’s well-being. Because you can only get more out of people when they feel good about themselves.

European Schoolnet

The European Schoolnet (EUN) is a network of 32 European ministries of education and is located in EU-offices in Brussels. Their role in the Digi-Lingo project will therefore primarily be of administrative and managerial character. EUN is thus responsible for the communication and network between the project and the relevant EU-partners and stakeholders, that have interest in the Digi-Lingo project. EUN furthermore closely works together with innovative ‘idea-labs’, where ministries develop policies in regards to the educational system in the EU. Therefore EUN will also have responsibilities and insight in regards to the legal and juridical side of the Digi-Lingo project.

EUN will also carry over a remarkable experience within the field from other projects concerning the implementation of language teaching of lesser used European languages.
